Helpful Escape Room Tactics For Beginners

Completing a non-linear escape room can be a thrilling and challenging experience. Unlike linear escape rooms where you progress through a series of predetermined puzzles, non-linear escape rooms allow you to tackle puzzles and challenges in any order. Here are some helpful methods to guide you through the process of completing a non-linear escape room:

  1. Communication: Effective communication among team members is crucial. Share information, ideas, and observations with each other. Discuss your findings and potential connections to solve the puzzles faster.

  2. Divide and conquer: Split your team into smaller groups and assign each group a specific area or puzzle to work on. This allows you to cover more ground simultaneously and can help solve puzzles more efficiently.

  3. Share information: While working on different puzzles, keep an open line of communication between groups. Share any relevant information, clues, or items you discover that might be helpful in other areas. Collaboration is key in a non-linear escape room.

  4. Observe and take notes: Pay close attention to your surroundings. Look for hidden clues, patterns, symbols, or anything that seems out of place. Take detailed notes of your observations, as they might become valuable later on.

  5. Solve interconnected puzzles: Identify any puzzles or challenges that seem to have a connection or rely on each other. Solving one puzzle might provide a clue or solution for another, so try to establish these connections and work on them accordingly.

  6. Time management: Non-linear escape rooms can be time-consuming. Keep track of your progress and allocate time for each puzzle or area. If you find yourselves getting stuck on a particular puzzle, don't hesitate to switch gears and work on something else. You have the length of your entire stay to complete the puzzles, so you can come back to the challenging puzzle with fresh eyes later.

  7. Organize your resources: As you collect items, clues, or hints, keep them organized. Use separate areas or tables to sort and group related objects. This helps you keep track of what you have and prevents confusion when you need to use them later.

  8. Don't be afraid to ask for hints: If you're truly stuck and running out of time, don't hesitate to the hints. They are there to assist you and ensure you have an enjoyable experience. Remember, it's better to ask for help than to get stuck and miss out on the full experience.

By following these methods, you and your team can navigate a non-linear escape room successfully, unraveling the mysteries, and finishing within your stay. Enjoy the challenge and have fun!
